Frequently Asked Questions

Additional Questions?      email me:  studio@oilpaintingworkshop.com

Q: I'm not receiving tip or course emails from you?

A: First thing I would check your spam/junk folder as emails can end up there. Usually that's what the problem is. If they're not there, email us and we'll help you. Also VERY IMPORTANT- add our email to your safe sender list or your contacts to ensure that you will get all of our emails to you safely. If you're not sure how to do that, let us know and we'll help you.

Q: I live out of the U.S. can I stream the courses?

A: Yes, also we ship DVDs worldwide... just an extra $10 shipping charge for overseas.

Q: Do you provide a materials list or suggestions for what I need for the courses?

A: Yes! I have a list of things I use while I paint with supplies and paints and all of that. But it is just a suggestion so don't think you need to go out and buy everything. Most likely whatever you have will be fine for the courses.

Q: Do you have any other classes or courses besides the landscape and still life course?

A: Yes! My newest weekly class is called the Art Masters Program (designed for beginners through advanced) which includes still life paintings, portrait paintings, and a handful of landscape paintings as well as motivational videos and handouts, marketing strategies and videos along with handouts to get you to be able to market and sell your art, special painting tips, and LIVE webinars about 3 times per month. Much more info can be found here: www.artmastersprogram.com

Q: do you sell gift certificates?

A: Yes click here: Gift Certificates

Q: What are the ethics in terms of doing these paintings based on your teaching.  I want to do the right thing.  Do I sign my name to them? Sell them?

A: When I send you the photos of the setup I am granting you license to use my photo to produce the painting...this mean you are completely free to sign your name and take complete and sole credit for the painting.

Q: What if I want to work at my own pace?

A: You can work at your own pace as some artists are quicker and some take longer then the 10 weeks to finish so just have fun and paint on your time

Q: What if I am happy with my painting do I have to send it in for a critique?

A: No, If you are happy then I am happy...the critiques are just to help you if you want them.

Q: Is this course for beginners, intermediate, or advanced artists?

A: All of the above- The starter still life course is recommended to start with and the demos are created to give all artists no matter what their background or talent is first hand knowledge, easy to follow tips and techniques, and insight on painting these beautiful paintings. I've had complete beginners picking up a paint brush for the first time to gallery award winning artists take the course.

Q: What are the lessons in the 10 week programs like?

A. The lessons are all demos where I paint brush stroke by brush stroke from start to finish and I will lecture about a concept or give tips and tie them in to the week's painting and give ideas on what to do. Each lesson is online AND on DVD so you can watch/pause them as you go.  Addresses and passwords will be emailed to you each week.

Q: How long are the demos?

A: They range from 1-2 hours each

Q: I am very interested in your classes but I paint in acrylics. Would I be able to follow along as well or would you recommend something else?

A: I have had numerous acrylic artists do the course and have been very happy with the information. I would say about 95% of the info is directly the same, in the same way that the weekly tips are universal. The other 5% only requires working on a small area until complete and then they are the same...I have had pastelists and a few watercolor artists do the class and love it too...try it out for a couple of lessons and if you don't like it return the DVDs and get your money returned. I also developed asthma with oil painting so I got rid of my turp and now I'm good…who would have thought that you do not need turp or solvents to paint! ...I painted in acrylics for over 10 yrs before the switch to oils....so I understand where you are coming from. I hope this helps and I look forward to working with you if you decide to go forward.

Q: do I get DVDs with this course?

A: YES you get BOTH DVDs and online versions for every lesson...10 paintings 10 DVDs 10 Online Versions of the DVDs

Q: Is there a discount if I purchase BOTH your still life and your landscape course?

A: There is a discount if you purchase both of the still life and the landscape course. And you also get a free apron ($25 Value) and an extra 3 bonus DVDs ($95 value). When you purchase both courses, you get 15% off of the second course, so with both courses, the free apron, and the free 3 extra bonus DVDs, the total is $354.95 including shipping and handling. If you want to break that up into 2 payments, there is an option for that on the site. Just select the two payment option. The discount for both courses will come after you purchase 1 course, then you will see an offer for the second course at the discounted rate so only purchase one course first and then you will be offered the discount for the second course.

Q: My order failed what should I do?

A: I'm sorry you're having issues with this. Sometimes the shopping cart messes up so please make sure you put in all of your information correctly first. If that doesn't work, let us know if you still have problems or you can call it in at 970.980.3123. Or you can send in a check payment (see below)

Q: Do you accept checks?

A: Yes we accept checks from the United States or international money orders via Western Union (although most times you will be charged an extra $30 dollars using Western Union. Money orders must be paid in full with no rebilling or split payments)

Here's how to do that: I have a couple of options that are already in place. What you can do is send in either the full amount for $191.95, 2 checks of $97 dollars dated 30 days apart or even 3 payments of $67 . What you do is send in 3 payments of $67 write me 3 checks. Now what you do is you post date the checks any way you want. You can post date them 30 days apart, 45 days apart, 60 days apart whatever you need to make it affordable for you. I don’t care about that but you have to send in all the checks at once because I don’t have time to do re-billing or try to keep track of that.

That’s our system, once the DVD’S go out we’ve got checks in place and then we put them in a folder and then whenever that date comes up we just put it in the bank and cash the check on that point or that date. That seems to work for a lot of people. Like I said the only catch is you need to send all the checks all at once and then email me as soon as you send the checks and we’ll start the online versions of the class right away that way you won’t have to wait for the DVD’S to get there. You can start right away.

We do send the DVD’S all out at once. We don’t wait for the last check to clear or anything like that we assume that the checks are all good and that there’s no problem there.

So anyway, if that all works for you let me know here is my address for you to send the checks and if you decide to go forward welcome aboard and we’re going to have great fun together.

Make checks payable to:

Q: This is a gift for someone, how can I let you know?

A: Please either make a note on your order form or email us immediately after purchasing with any instructions on whether you want us to wait to ship the DVDs on a certain day or to wait to send the first email for the course out. We are very fast at processing orders and shipping so please let us know as soon as possible if you need your DVDs to be a surprise or have any instructions for us. We don't want to ruin the surprise for you!

Q: How do I print the photos you emailed me?

A: Here's generally how to print from home:

First,

You get photos emailed to you for each lesson. It's the first link in the emails. Please let me know if you haven't received any emails. If you haven't, please check your spam/junk folder for them.

Second,

Once you see the link for the photo either click it and it will open up a new window or tab.

Third,

Towards the bottom of the page you will see a few links that say the particular painting picture: For example, week 1 of the still life course will say: Orange and grapes 1, Orange and grapes 2, orange and grapes 3 (lighter version) etc. Now (For Windows users) right click it and hit save-as and save it to a place you will remember like your desktop.

(MAC users) Click the link and it shows up in a new window and then save it to your desktop.

Fourth,

Now find where you saved your image, and you can either open it and it will open to the default program set on your computer or you can try and right click it and there should be an option to print it.

Fifth,

Once you are in your printer dialogue screen, make sure you set the option to "fit to page" because the image is larger then a standard printer paper size. This way you will get the entire picture on the page.

How to get the images printed from a photo store:

Fourth,

Either email the photo(s) to your local Walgreens/Walmart/Photo Store OR save the photos on a Flash Drive or a CD and bring that to those stores to have them printed

Q: I'm a water color artist, will this course work for me?

A: If you're not subscribed to my tips yet I would do that and continue to watch my tips and once you think you got enough value out of those and if you connect with those and find them helpful, I think then you should get the course. Obviously not 100% of the lessons will apply to watercolor but I'd say at least 75%. I've had some watercolorists take the course and have loved it. I hope this helps and if you decide to get the course, I look forward to working with you then.

Q: Can I just purchase one DVD instead of the full set?

A: Unfortunately at this time I don't offer single lesson DVDs. If payment is a concern we do offer payment plans that you can see above under the question: Do you accept checks?

Q: Can I just come pick up the DVDs from you rather than shipping them to me?

A: I don't ship the DVDs from my studio so that option won't work

Q: Are there captions for the videos?

A: Not right now but we are working on transcribing the videos to provide that in the future

Q: Can I change up the setup or scene to suit my painting style?

A: YES! Please feel free to paint how you want to paint. I do recommend trying at least a few though like how I paint to get the most value out of the lessons.
